The OKU was started by Grand Master Allen Wheeler. It was founded on the premise of excellence, camaraderie, and family. Grand Master Wheeler incorporated elements of Qi, Arnis, Small Circle Jiu-Jitsu, Reiki, Qigong, Ling Kong Jing, and nerve center and pressure point knock outs into the Isshinryu system. Grand Master Wheeler was a contemporary and good friend of the Grand Masters and founders of those systems.
Belonging to a professional association allows you to become involved with a network of exceptionally gifted karate instructors.
Being a part of the OKU allows you to be associated directly with Grand Master Wheeler's chosen leaders.
The education and training provided by the OKU is outstanding! Summer Seminar brings the best and brightest talents and techniques from around the nation to those studying the arts.
It is an honor to be involved with and share in fellowship with others who uphold the same beliefs in our tradition.

About the OKU

Founded by Master Allen Wheeler (10th-Dan), the OKU is an organization open to all Okinawan Karate styles and styles of Okinawan descent. Since its inception in 1989, the OKU has become known for the quality of its members. The OKU provides a wide variety of opportunities for continuous improvement in the martial arts and has members from around the world.
